Aloha friends and Moana Readers. It’s Foto Friday!

This is the view from the top of Makapu’u Point, an easy hike located on the southeast side of Oahu. It’s a short drive north from Hanauma Bay and has the picturesque Makapu’u Lighthouse as a landmark. The hike is steep yet short and paved so you can walk it with strollers.
One of the interesting things I learned from the posted signs at the trail-head is that this view is actually half of a crater from hundreds of thousands of years ago. Can you see it? That whole ridge on the left side of the picture all the way to the north side of the island used to be a crater’s ridge. That was one massive volcano!
