I am not a FANCY CHEF by any means. Although I am always looking for new and easy recipes for my family to try. Spike Seasonings seemed like a fun way to simplify and “SPICE” up my recipes/meals.
About Gayelord Hauser Products: Acclaimed nutritionist Gayelord Hauser founded Modern Products in 1925 to share his philosophy that gourmet taste and good nutrition go hand-in-hand. Our seasoning blends add a variety of delicious tastes without adding fat or calories. And all of our products are made from the earth’s purest, most natural ingredients, without additive, preservatives or fillers.
As I inspected the labels on the Spike Seasoning bottles, I was surprised to see that a bunch of the seasonings were SALT FREE and/or GLUTEN-FREE. Plus, Dr. Oz featured it on his show and listed Spike Seasoning Magics! as an alternative to table salt and a great resource to fight bloating and belly bulge. The flavors I have tried so far were full and not too overpowering; onion, garlic, lemon pepper, vegit, original. There were some that I have used and will continue to use on LOTS of meals/dishes, and there are others that I may only use a few times; such as, Tenderizer.
Here are a few recipes that I LOVED using Spike Seasoning in and my review of the taste.
I) Cauliflower with Spike Original Seasoning (all Purpose) : the seasoning was perfect; it enhanced the natural flavor of the cauliflower and the Kids ate it up so fast!
Cauliflower recipe: (personal)
1) 1/2 Head of Cauliflower cut into pieces
2) Sprinkle 1 tsp. over Cauliflower
3) Add 1/2 C water to bottom of Glass dish
4) Cover and Microwave till tender
II) Baked Lemon Broccoli with Spike Lemon Pepper: So a friend of mine told me to try this Baked Broccoli dish, she said I would never go back to steamed broccoli again. SO I tried it and LOVED IT. I made a bunch and it was still not enough for my family, where NORMALLY they will have 3-5 small florets and be done!
Baked Lemon Broccoli
(from Amateur Gourmet.com)
1)Preheat oven to 425
2) Cut 2 lrg bunches of Broccoli into Florets
3) Toss with 5 Tbs olive oil, 1 1/2 tsps kosher salt, 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper *I substituted salt and pepper with Spike Lemon Pepper
4)Bake 20 – 25min
5) Pull out and zest 1 lemon and squeeze lemon juice over, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese & basil. *Because I added Spike’s Lemon Pepper I didn’t add the basil and only a bit of lemon juice and zest.
III) Garlic and Lemon Chicken with Garlic seasoning: I must confess that GARLIC is my GO TO seasoning, I use it in 90% of my dinner dishes. I put fresh Garlic on EVERYTHING…almost everything, everything but desserts and sweet things. I LOVE Garlic, but sometimes its a hassle to chop or mince or whatever, so I was intrigued to use Spike GARLIC seasoning.
1) Preheat to 375 degrees, spray/lightly oil 9×13 pan
2) Chop 2 lbs of chicken, spread in pan
3) Sprinkle Spike’s GARLIC & Spike’s Lemon Pepper seasoning
4)Bake 20 minutes.
A simple and lovely flavor, satisfying ALL my garlic desires!
**HUBBY RAVED: “surprisingly not too overpowering of a flavor, but a full flavor. I like it!”**
